Visitors to Spartanburg, South Carolina this fall will find lots of activities to entertain the family. As the leaves begin to change and the days become cooler, Spartanburg gears up for football, fall festivals, and a host of other fun events. There is something special going on around town almost every weekend.

Head downtown on Friday evenings to kick off the weekend with Jazz on the Square. Morgan Square is filled with people every Friday night in September and October from 5:30-7:30pm as people enjoy the live jazz. Different groups are featured each week. Attendees are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket to these free events. Beverages are available for purchase.

Wofford College football brings thousands of fans to town in the fall when the Terriers play at home in Gibbs Stadium. Home games scheduled this fall are against Southern Conference rival Samford on September 24, Appalachian State University on October 1, Virginia-Wise on October 15, Elon on October 29, and Georgia Southern University on November 12. Ticket prices range from $25-27 for adults and $10-12 for children.

The Spartanburg Little Theater will present a family favorite this fall. They will bring Annie to the main stage from September 16-25. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7pm and the Sunday matinee is at 3pm. Adult tickets are $25 and youth tickets are $17. The Spartanburg Youth Theater will present Charlottes Web on October 7 and 8. Friday shows are at 4:30pm and 7pm and the Saturday show begins at 2pm. The theater is located in the Chapman Cultural Center at 200 East St. John Street in downtown Spartanburg.

The Spartanburg International Festival draws a big crowd each fall. The festival is scheduled for October 1 from 11am-7pm in Barnett Park. Stroll the Avenue of Nations and explore the culture of other countries through music, dance, food, and art. The Kids Zone will have activities for children. Thirty countries will be represented at the 2011 festival. Admission is free.

Nearby Inman, South Carolina will hold its Inman Harvest Festival on September 24. For 30 years this free festival has attracted thousands of visitors. The festival features arts and crafts, a farmers market, sidewalk sales, and food vendors. Entertainment will take place on two stages, one on Main Street and the other on Mill Street. There will be rides and activities for children as well as a petting zoo. There is also a Little Miss and Mr. Harvest Day Pageant. Festival hours are from 9am-5pm.

Those who want to view spectacular fall colors may want to take a drive on the nearby Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway. This scenic route through the Upcountry passes several popular South Carolina state parks. Whatever your interest, the Spartanburg area has much to offer in the fall.
